Helen Mia Harris BA (Hons), PGdip,
BACP Registered
I have had many years training in dealing with trauma, loss, separation and bereavement. I began by studying the work of C. G. Jung at the Thomas Aquinas Academy in Sydney. After qualifying as a Relationship/Marriage Therapist, I ran a private practice for six years. I worked in a Naturopathic Hospice where nutrition and complementary health, massage and storytelling was an essential part of the warmth and care.
After spending 18 months at the C. G. Jung Institute in Switzerland, I worked as an Existential Psychotherapist and Loss/Bereavement Counsellor for 16 years. I gained wide and varied experience in working in prisons, therapy centres, hospices, children’s homes and medical centres. In 2007 I did a research study on the Couple Relationship at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust. Between 2007 and 2008 I did a research study on Trauma and its Aftermath - also at the Tavistock Centre.
I worked at Guy's Hospital as a Psychotherapist between 2004 and 2007, with Marie Curie as a Bereavement care worker, and in a complementary health centre as a Relationship Therapist running a private practice called 'Healing the Broken Heart’ focusing on love and loss. I have also led many women’s groups in Creative Writing as a therapeutic art.
I am BACP registered and adhere to BACP guidelines.
