'Matters of the Heart'

Psychotherapy – Life Coaching - Counselling Service
For both Men and Women

We all deserve to live happy, creatively fulfilling lives but most of us suffer from unhappiness, meaninglessness and varying degrees of depression or anxiety.

From my experience the loss of a significant other, either via a broken relationship or through bereavement is one of the primary reasons why people seek help with a therapist/counsellor.

People cannot cope with the devastating sense of loss and hope to overcome the powerlessness, hopelessness and misery that has overtaken their lives. It is a mistake to underestimate the shattering impact the loss of a relationship can cause, resulting in high anxiety and depression. Mental confusion, weight loss, and panic attacks. The inability to continue working and losing the impetus to participate with life. Most people benefit hugely from Counselling or Therapy and find answers within themselves that help them overcome/understand the reasons for their unhappiness and despair or lack of motivation in their lives.

Having studied in various fields of Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, I have taken a universal approach to my work combining Jungian, Lacanian, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Humanistic and Psychoanalytic conceptualisations of the practice of therapy. I have always felt that the psychoanalytical schools of thought have been hampered by their ‘non-inclusiveness’ and rather than there being one correct method of psychoanalysis, believe different avenues of psychotherapy can produce positive results and that the client should guide the way with what they feel most comfortable with.

My work involves listening to how individuals or couples talk about their experiences, exploring patterns of relating and helping them to find autonomy/personal power and motivation within their self. Freeing them from negative patterns of behaviour. The emphasis is on the importance of each individual to find their own meaning, values and inspiration in life.

Following are my areas of expertise using CBT and other methods of analysis including Brief Solution Focused Therapy, which is a 4-6 weeks intensive process for seeking solutions for a specific problem/issue.
